Donald H. Sanborn III

Donald H. Sanborn III has written an article, Gigi, ‘What Miracle Has Made You the Way You Are?” which was published by HowlRound in October of 2015. In addition, Mr. Sanborn is co-editing a biography of composer Frederick Loewe, and edits a monthly Devotional for the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers.

A a composer, Mr. Sanborn has written a full-length musical, as well as a Christmas art song. Recent premieres include Peter’s Salvation, an Easter duet for trumpet and organ; a choral anthem, Of the Holy Trinity; a brass quintet, Fanfare for Caitlin’s Castle, a version of which also exists for trumpet and organ; and a song cycle, Dreams of Edgar Allan Poe.

Mr. Sanborn completed his M.A. in Music Composition at New York University, where he studied composition with Dr. Steven L. Rosenhaus, with an emphasis on composing for musical theater. At Southern Illinois University, he completed his B.A. in Music, and studied composition with Dr. Frank Stemper. Mr. Sanborn’s favorite of his compositions is “Jubilate Fanfare”, a duet for trumpet and organ. Written in collaboration with his wife, Jennifer Leach Sanborn, the piece was premiered at their wedding.

Trinity, a work for solo organ, was featured on Composers Circle on May 2, 2015. Professional affiliations include ASCAP and the Christian Fellowship of Art Music Composers.
